
Humberside Police have been pounding the streets of Hull to help local residents protect their personal property and homes in a dedicated week of action that started on Sunday. Wyke Neighbourhood Policing Team will be using brand new property scanning devices ‘Apollo’ and ‘Hermes’ to upload details of students and non students alike onto secure database www.immobilise.com, and also point out security issues in properties, so that householders can make changes, which could reduce the likelihood of being targeted by criminals, therefore avoid becoming a victim of crime. Police Officers, PCSOs and Hull City Council’s Wyke Area Team will be working together, to answer queries on topics such as anti-social behaviour, environmental issues and crime in the geographic area. The teams will be visiting every property on two streets off Newland Avenue, so that they can speak to occupants of houses or flats in the vicinity. They will record information such as IMEI numbers from mobile phones and serial numbers from laptops, tablets, televisions, games consoles and MP3 players, and create a unique account, which will send details to the information portal on the password protected site.
